My Approach To Therapy

You have a unique life, with diverse stories to share, and you should do so in ways that you feel safe and understood …

I believe psychotherapy can help heal us. At its best, psychotherapy is a deeply transformative experience that emerges within a safe space in which you are heard, understood, and responded to with insight and compassion.

My approach to therapy begins with the belief that there is healing power in being seen—really seen—and heard—really heard—by an empathic professional in a safe space. The relationship between a therapist and client in and of itself can be transformative. I hold this special therapeutic relationship above any psychological theory or technique.

While I have training in multiple therapeutic approaches, I do not subscribe to a single mode of therapy as better than all others. The best type of therapy is what heals you. As your therapist, I meet you where you are at and have an integrative and holistic approach with a leaning towards deeper therapies, such as psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, and existentialism. I also know the profound impact of traumatic experiences on our personhood and have extensive training and experience in treating trauma.

The diversity and depth of my own life experiences and my commitment to the therapeutic relationship allows me to bring a warm, authentic, and accepting approach to our work together. I do not believe that one must be considered ill or have a diagnosis to seek or receive help from a healing professional. If you do have a mental health diagnosis or desire a diagnosis, we will work together to manage its impacts and heal. Too often mental health professionals focus on labels, causes, pathology and cures. But rather than being sick or broken, I believe we are often suffering from being lost inside ourselves or our relationships. There is light at the end of the tunnel: it is you. And I will travel through the tunnel with you. Let’s start that journey of hope. Contact me here.

Everyone is a unique person with their own story. You are unique. You have your own story. My goal as your psychotherapist is to help you achieve a deeper awareness of who you are, to discover internal meaning for your many experiences, and to help you experience a life you love.
